Not really. We only know that there is a branch of our school in Karwina.

We know a lot.
- IN WHAT WAYS IS POLISH LANGUAGE FOSTERED IN YOUR SCHOOL? ARE THERE ANY MEETINGS WITH SOME POETS ORGANISED?
There are no meetings with poets but there are meetings with poetry. We also have spelling contests. Some time ago Mr. Miodek visited us.

- SO IT CHANGES DEPENDING ON WHICH YEAR OF SCHOOL YOU’RE DOING?
Yes, exactly. Each year it’s different. In the second year we had more hours than in the first.
- DO YOU LIKE POLISH LESSONS?
We should say that we do but it depends…. (laughter) We use Czech language more than Polish but we think it’s not good.
- HOW IS POLISH TREATED?
As the main language. We have to speak it.
- DO LIKE THE FACT THAT YOU SPEAK POLISH?
Yes! That’s why we came to this school.
- DOES ANYONE OF YOU HAVE POLISH ROOTS?
We are Polish!
- ARE THERE ANY AFTER –SCHOOL ACTIVITIES, FOR EXAMPLE ADDITIONAL COMPUTER CLASSES OR ART CLASSES?
There is a theatre team at our school. They make performances for various occassions. There is also a school choir.
- HAVE YOU PERFORMED IN A REAL THEARTE BUILDING?
No, only at our school.
- DOES YOUR CHOIR GO ON TOURS?
Yes, for example to Bydgoszcz.
- HAVE THEY WON ANY AWARDS?
Yes, for example in Bydgoszcz.
- DO YOUR LESSONS ALWAYS TAKE PLACE AT SCHOOL OR DO YOU SOMETIMES LEAVE THE BUILDING?
We went out once.We went to Cieszyn to see its monuments.
- HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE THERE IN YOUR CLASSES?
About 30 students.
- ARE THERE ANY FAMOUS POLISH PEOPLE WHO YOU ADMIRE?
John Paul II.
- DO YOU OFTEN VISIT POLAND? IF YES, WHAT PLACES DO YOU LIKE BEST?
We try to visit interesting places. Cracow is a beautiful city.
- WHAT DO YOU THINK OF CIESZYN? DO YOU LIKE VISITING THIS TOWN?
There are a lot of interesting places in Cieszyn and that’s why we visit its pubs and restaurants quite often.
- ARE THERE ANY SCHOOL REGULATIONS?
There aren’t any! There are no strict rules but you have to be obedient.
- ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS CONCERNING WILD HAIRCUTS OR THE WAY YOU DRESS?
It depends on what you would consider as wild. Nobody forbids anything like that but we are not too interested in anything like that.
- IS THERE ANYTHING SPECIAL ABOUT YOUR SCHOOL, EXCEPT ITS LANGUAGE?
The students from other Czech schools seem to be too relaxed. They think about other things. They tend to have problems with things like alkohol or cigarettes.
- DO YOUR STUDENTS HAVE SUCH PROBLEMS?
Not really.
- IS THERE A POSSIBILITY IN YOUR SCHOOL TO CHOOSE SUBJECTS THAT YOU’D LIKE TO STUDY AT MORE ADVANCED LEVEL?
The first two years are more general. In the third and fourth year we choose subjects we want to study at more advanced level and have additional classes on these subjects.
- WHAT HAVE YOU CHOOSEN?
Mathematics and Physics.
- WHAT LANGUAGES DO YOU LEARN AT SCHOOL?
Polish, Czech, German, French and also Russian.
- HOW MANY YEARS DOES EDUCATION AT YOUR SCHOOL TAKE?
Four years.
- DO YOU THINK THAT YOUR SCHOOL GUARANTEES YOU A GOOD START FOR THE FUTURE?
Yes, of course.
- WAS IT DIFFICULT TO GET TO THIS SCHOOL? WHAT WERE THE ENROLMENT RULES?
Polish language exam. The marks on our primary school certificates were also important..
- THAT WERE THE RULES WHEN YOU CAME TO THIS SCHOOL?
Yes. But now the students also take IQ tests.
- WHICH SUBJECTS DO YOU LIKE STUDYING THE MOST?
Mathematics. But that depends on Matematyka. Ale to równie¿ sprawa gustu czy zami³owañ.
- WHAT ABOUT THE ATMOSPHERE AT SCHOOL?
It feels like with family. We try to have good relationships with our teachers. AQnd as far as students are concerned we get really close during holidays.
- ARE THERE ANY CONFLICTS BETWEEN THE TEACHERS AND THE STUDENTS? OR MAYBE SOME FUNNY SUITUATIONS HAPPEN?
Funny situations happen but conflicts rather not.
- ARE YOU WELL INFORMED ABOUT WHAT’S HAPPENING AT YOUR SCHOOL? IS THERE A SCHOOL RADIO OR NEWSPAPER?
There are student council meetings during which various matters are discussed and then the leader of the class tell us about it. It’s not very official and takes place during breaks. We don’t have a school newspaper but we have a school website.
- DOES YOUR SCHOOL TAKE PART IN PROMOTING YOUR TOWN?
We don’t know anything about that.
- WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE? IS THERE A PLACE FOR POLAND IN IT?
Most of us would like to study in Poland but money can be a problem.
- IF YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MONEY THEN YOU’D LIKE TO STUDY IN POLAND, WOULDN’T YOU?
Yes, of course!
- MAYBE YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT YOU’D LIKE TO STUDY?
We don’t know what but we know where – Cracow.
- DOES YOUR SCHOOL ORGANISE ANY DISCOS FOR YOU?
No, but we go to such parties on our own.
- DOES YOUR SCHOOL COOPERATE WITH THE THEATRE OR DO YOU GO TO THE CINEMA AS A SCHOOL?
We often go to the ciemna.
- DOES YOUR SCHOOL HAVE ANY CONNECTIONS WITH ANY POLISH SCHOOLS?
Unfortunately not. It’s a pity.
